ANIMALS
THIS IS ELEPHANT
- Elephants are the largest land mammals.
- Wild elephants live in families called herds – herds are made up of female elephants.
- The only males in these herds are the young calves.
- The leader of the herd is usually the oldest female – she is called the Matriarch.
THIS IS LLAMA
Llamas are mammals
Llamas are herbivores meaning they only eat plants.
THIS IS TORTOISE
A tortoise is a turtle, but a turtle isn't a tortoise.
A group of tortoises is called a creep.
But you won't see a creep very often. (Not that kind, anyway.) Tortoises are solitary roamers. Some mother tortoises are protective of their nests, but they don't care for their young after they hatch.
